Unit histories and other papers re the Eighty-First (Wildcat) Division of the U.S. Army, chiefly documenting service during World War I; includes letters, photographs, rosters, memoirs, regimental histories, regimental newspapers, maps, and various materials re the Veterans Wildcat Association. Regimental histories of the 81st Division, 321st Infantry, 316th Artillery, and 306th Engineers; includes diary of Captain W.T. Bonner; autobiography of General Charles Justin Bailey; war maps of France, 1918; records; photographs; stories; letters; regimental newspapers; rosters; reunion ephemera; and materials related to the Veterans Wildcat Association, including Constitution and By-Laws. A small collection of letters from two soldiers serving in this Division, written to family at home in South Carolina, consist of 74 letters, 1915-1918, chiefly correspondence of Lt. Thomas H. Edwards, Jr. to his mother and sister from various training camps in the U.S. and duty stations in France; and 29 letters, 22 Sept. 1918 - 19 Aug. 1919, Autricourt (in Bourgogne in eastern France), from Lt. Thomas H. Hodges, Jr. of the 323rd Infantry, to his mother, Mrs. T.H. Edwards, Sr. of Mars Bluff (Florence County, S.C.).
